At the 2nd Africa Climate Summit in Addis Ababa, I reiterated Ghana’s commitment to tackling climate change, underlined by our role as host of the Climate Vulnerable Forum and Vulnerable 20 Group.

In my address, I spoke about the urgent need for Africa to harness the full potential of climate action as a driver of resilience and prosperity. Our focus must be on turning climate risks into opportunities through innovation, green growth, and sustainable practices. Africa cannot afford to be a mere consumer of technology; we must become contributors and leaders in climate solutions.

I called on leaders to invest in nature-based solutions and emulate successful initiatives such as Ethiopia’s 40 billion trees project, which demonstrates the transformative power of local action. I stated that climate policies must be grounded in regional cooperation, partnerships, and a strong sense of shared responsibility across the continent.

Ultimately, I stressed that Africa’s climate agenda must not only reduce vulnerabilities but also empower communities to thrive sustainably. Ghana stands ready, together with our neighbours and partners, to advance this vision with courage and innovation.
