Roads and Highways Minister Kwame Agbodza has expressed disappointment over the condition of the Peki section of the Eastern Corridor Road, revealing that 28 kilometres of the road will have to be reconstructed despite the work having already been paid for.

According to the Minister, the section failed to meet the required construction standards, making it necessary to redo the entire stretch. He attributed the situation to poor workmanship by the previous contractor, describing it as an unacceptable waste of public resources.

Mr. Agbodza said the government is committed to ensuring that road projects across the country meet the expected quality standards and provide value for money. He stressed that contractors who fail to deliver quality work will be held accountable.

The Minister made the remarks during an inspection of ongoing road projects, where he reiterated the government’s resolve to improve the country’s road infrastructure while enforcing strict quality control measures.

The Eastern Corridor Road is one of Ghana’s major highway projects, linking several regions and serving as a key transportation route for commuters and businesses. The reconstruction of the affected 28-kilometre stretch is expected to restore the road to the required standard and improve safety for road users.
