Accra, Ghana — The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), in collaboration with the United States Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority (USVI EDA), has held high-level discussions with the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition aimed at strengthening economic cooperation and promoting value addition within Ghana’s petroleum sector.
The meeting was jointly led by the Chief Executive Officer of GEA, Ms. Margaret Ansei, and a delegation from the USVI Economic Development Authority. They were received by the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor.
Discussions centered on strategies to increase local processing and value addition to Ghana’s crude oil, with the objective of reducing dependence on imported refined petroleum products. The initiative is expected to enhance the country’s energy security, create employment opportunities, stimulate industrial growth, and retain more revenue within the local economy.
According to the Ghana Enterprises Agency, the engagement forms part of its broader commitment to building strategic partnerships that attract investment, accelerate industrialisation, and empower Ghanaian enterprises to play a leading role in the country’s economic transformation.
The collaboration also reflects ongoing efforts to deepen international partnerships that support Ghana’s economic development agenda and promote sustainable growth through local value creation.
