Tamale, Ghana — July 12, 2026 — The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested two Nigerian nationals in connection with the murder of a fellow Nigerian, whose body was discovered at his residence in Sanzirigu, Tamale.
The suspects, identified as Daniel Victor Eze and David Oko Ewa, were arrested on Saturday, July 11, 2026, while allegedly attempting to flee through the Tatale route into neighbouring Togo.
According to the police, the victim, Nkemujika Uzorchuku Eze, 36, was found dead in his bedroom after officers responded to a report from the residence. Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased lived in a three-bedroom apartment with his wife, Peace Uzorchuku, the two suspects, and another Nigerian national, Godwin Nwafor.

Police investigators said the victim had sustained a deep cut to the forehead, while a towel had been stuffed into his mouth. The room was also found ransacked.
A wooden pestle, believed to have been used in the attack, was recovered from the scene together with other items for forensic examination. The body was conveyed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead before being deposited at the hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.
The Police said intelligence-led operations led to the arrest of the two suspects at Tatale later the same day as they allegedly attempted to escape into the Republic of Togo. They have since been handed over to the Tamale District Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to assist with investigations.
According to the Police, the suspects allegedly admitted during interrogation that they conspired to kill the deceased, claiming he had withheld proceeds from alleged internet fraud activities. The allegations have not been tested in court.

A search conducted after their arrest led to the recovery of several items believed to have been stolen from the deceased’s room, including mobile phones, laptop computers, a tablet, jewellery, clothing, wristwatches, personal documents and other valuables. The recovered items have been retained as exhibits as investigations continue.
The suspects remain in police custody and are expected to appear before court on Monday, July 13, 2026, to facilitate ongoing investigations.
The Northern Regional Police Command says it remains committed to ensuring everyone connected to the case is brought to justice and has appealed to the public to provide credible information to support the fight against crime.
