Every September, the world shines a light on a condition that affects millions of women but is often misunderstood or left undiagnosed: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). As someone who cares deeply about women’s health, I believe this month is a chance for us to learn, share, and support each other.

So, what exactly is PCOS?
PCOS is a hormonal condition that affects how the ovaries work. Many women with PCOS experience irregular or missed periods, acne, unwanted hair growth, weight struggles, or even hair thinning. But PCOS is more than physical symptoms—it can also take a toll on mental health, causing stress, anxiety, and frustration.

The impact is huge. PCOS is one of the leading causes of infertility, yet with the right support and management, many women go on to have children. More importantly, PCOS does not define who you are—it’s just one part of your story.

This is why awareness matters. Too many women suffer in silence, brushing off symptoms or being dismissed when they seek help. By talking about it openly, we break the stigma, spread knowledge, and remind women they are not alone.

Managing PCOS looks different for everyone. For some, lifestyle changes like balanced eating, regular exercise, and stress management can make a big difference. For others, medical treatments are necessary. The important thing is that there is hope—and there are communities of women out there ready to share their journeys and support one another.

As we mark PCOS Awareness Month, let’s take action: wear teal, share information, and stand with women who live with PCOS every day. Your voice might be the reason someone finally gets the help they need.
